Rancherias Trail Backpack TripJanuary 16, 17, and 18, we are backpacking the Rancherias Trail again. The 19-mile loop of the Rancherias Trail through Big Bend Ranch State Park leads backpackers from the narrow ribbon of the Rio Grande along Highway 170, also known as River Road, into timeless, rugged canyon terrain, across thornscrub mesas, past seeps and springs and remnants of historic homesteads. Currently, four people have commited to doing this trail. Marathon PLUS HikeMake plans now for our annual Marathon PLUS Hike on January 23rd. Each year we hike the Sierra Vista Trail from end to end in one day. That is a bit over 28 miles. Last year Xochitl set a wicked pace and the crew did the full 28 miles in about eight hours. Can we beat that time this year? Xochitl, are you ready? Mexican Canyon TrestleCharlie received email stating the the El Paso Ridgewalkers contributed the most volunteers hour in removing the vegetation from around the trestle so the contractors can begin work on the trestle restoration project. This was not an easy task, but many hands made the work much easier. Thanks to all that had the opportunity to lend a helping hand. Upcoming Hikes
