Hitt Canyon and Baird Canyon Hike

We have two hikes this weekend.  On Saturday, July 3, we will hike in a new area, known as Baird Canyon.  This is a little known canyon with beautiful views and mountain lion, elk, wild horses, and wild turkeys have been known to frequent the area.  Then on Sunday, July 4th, Jim Tolbert will lead a hike in Hitt Canyon, located in the Franklin Mountains State Park.

Here is a list of upcoming hikes for the month of July for those that like to plan ahead, so mark your calendars and plan for the following hikes:

  • July 3   Cloudcroft    Baird Canyon
  • July 4  Hitt Canyon
  • July 10  Hillsboro Peak trail to Kingston
  • July 17   Cloudcroft
  • July 24  Cloudcroft
  • July 31  Three Rivers

Music Under The Stars

Concerts are Sundays from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Chamizal National Memorial located at 800 S. San Marcial Street. Please note that the 4th of July Extravaganza concert on Sunday, July 4th, will take place from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Grills are allowed at the park except in the bowl area (area in front of stage).  Please note that glass containers and pets are NOT allowed at the park!

  • June 20             La Imperial Sonora (Local National Touring Artist - Latin Cumbia)

  • August 1           Hot Club of Cowtown (National Touring Artist - Western Swing)
  • August 8           Azucar (Local Artist - Salsa and Merengue)
  • August 15         Mariachi Los Toritos (Local Artist - Traditional Mariachi)

 
*Talent is subject to change due to availability

 

Park and Ride!
Concert goers may park at the El Paso Zoo and take a shuttle to the park for FREE! Shuttle hours are from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.  4th of July shuttles will run from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
