Who Are We?

ImageWe are the one and only El Paso Ridgewalkers, a group of local yokels who like to hike, socialize, and are driven by a desire to stay in some sort of physical condition. So, we hike miles and miles and miles across mountain tops, valleys, and ridge lines in and around El Paso, Texas and southern New Mexico just to have fun and enjoy the great outdoors!

Disorganized in 1999 by Charlie Topp, the El Paso Ridgewalkers enjoy hikes every weekend, choosing from many trails in El Paso, Texas and southern New Mexico.

Why Do We Hike?

For the sheer enjoyment of the outdoors, of course! Hiking gives us the opportunity to photograph, socialize, and exercise so that we may continue to enjoy an active lifestyle.

How Do You Join Us?

It's simple! Our weekly hikes are posted online. Hike details, such as where the next hike will be, level of difficulty, and suggested items to bring are all listed on our website. Choose a hike that meets your level of physical conditioning, use our easy online registration system to register for a hike, and show up at the meeting location posted on our web site.

Yep! It's that simple! No forms to submit, no dues to pay, no meetings to attend. Just register for the hike, show up, hike, and have fun!

Newsletters

To receive our weekly newsletter, you must register as a member or sign up to receive the newsletter. Its free, and you will receive the newsletter each week describing our next hiking adventure, and links to other news items posted to our web site.

Suggesting a Hike

Everyone has a favorite hike, and sometimes, that hike just isn't scheduled often enough. Tell us about that hike. Then there are trails that we don't know about.

Our Rules

We only have one rule, and that is Have Fun!  Hoot and Holler! Do a victory dance at the summit. Take pictures of your own grinning face in front of the vista you've just reached.  Test for echoes off of cliffs. Slide down snow patches on your butt. Climb stuff. Explore stuff. Or, if it's more your style, sit quietly and soak in the marvel of what's around you.  It doesn't really matter what you do, it only matters that you are having fun.
